Sandro was founded in Paris in 1984 by Evelyne Chetrite, with the support of her husband, Didier Chetrite. Established in the Sentier garment district, the label developed a contemporary wardrobe shaped by the city’s style and the founder’s background in Morocco. Her eye for fabric and proportion gave the clothes an identity between designer fashion and everyday dressing.

Menswear arrived in 2008 under the direction of their son, Ilan Chetrite. Sandro Homme translated the house’s approach into a wardrobe that could accommodate tailoring and casual clothes in the same outfit. A jacket might introduce a formal line, while denim or a knit polo changes the mood around it.

The men’s collections often draw on music and the visual language of earlier decades. Leather jackets and retro-inspired knitwear bring personality to practical separates, while changes in volume keep those references connected to the present. The result is a version of Parisian menswear that allows some attitude into a daily uniform.

Part of the SMCP group, Sandro has expanded internationally while retaining its Paris headquarters. Evelyne continues to shape the women’s collections, with Ilan leading the men’s. The relationship between their perspectives gives the house continuity, balancing a recognizable design vocabulary with clothes that can adapt to the way people live.
