I am thankful that Wes Anderson appreciates the supreme talent of Mr. Dafoe (have always wondered: any relation to the author of “Journal of the Plague Year”?). I have admired him for many performance, not the least of them in “Platoon,” “To Live and Die in L.A.,” and, most especially, “The Last Temptation of Christ.” The scene in which a not-so-resurrected and thoroughly Gnostic Jesus encounters Saul-Paul the Tarsun played by Dafoe and Harry Dean Stanton went a long way to my decision that religion is bunk. Thank you, Sir!
