Salvatore Ferragamo took to the catwalk for the first time since the departure of its creative director Massimiliano Giornetti earlier this year. The current design team unveiled a spring-summer 2017 collection that juxtaposed relaxed tailoring with an adventurous attitude. The starting inspiration of the season belonged to none other than early twentieth century artists, who were beginning to enjoy the freedom to travel.
Creating workwear for the artist, vertical striped suiting was shown alongside short field jackets and pucker bombers. Abstract prints decorated colorful sweater vests, Harrington jackets and button-down shirts. The whimsical spin on the season was joined by monochromatic numbers that made for a bright approach to leisure.
Offering a spectrum of colors, Salvatore Ferragamo turned out blue and yellow looks that stood out in contrast to military-inspired neutrals. A symbol of the season that represents travel, the backpack was front and center in canvas with suede strapping. The must-have was joined by the Ferragamo Tramezza shoe. The popular style was updated with a leather and elastic shielding.
