Photographer An Le’s January 2026 Esquire Vietnam cover with Evan Mock strips fashion of its typical earthbound seriousness and plants the athlete and actor squarely in the surreal. A UFO encounter materializes above Chinatown storefronts, and elsewhere, Mock sits perched atop a stack of vintage yellow taxi cabs, as if posing inside a fever dream.
Evan Mock for Esquire Vietnam

Stylist Donté McGuine curated clothes cool enough to hold their own against the visual mayhem, against that intersection of sci-fi and urban texture. There’s an edgy confidence to the whole affair that matches Mock’s own vibe.

What makes this work is the refusal to let the surrealism cannibalize the clothes. Every element was built from scratch using traditional post-production techniques, no algorithmic shortcuts, which means the world bends around the real subject standing at its center.

Mock’s presence anchors the dreamscape, keeps it from floating into pure style exercise. By the time you finish scrolling through these frames, you understand: the future of editorial fashion lives here, in the collision between the impossible and the genuine.
