Spring 2010 is shaping up to be the season of new beginnings. Their first runway show since 2007, Issey Miyake staged their latest showing at their modest Parisian showroom. Inspired by Turkey as the symbolic meeting of East and West, Issey Miyake’s designer, Dai Fujiwara infused the collection with vast amounts of color, ranging from a loud turquoise to a triumphant yellow. Exotic and different, Fujiwara sought to bring a unique element to the collection by tackling a difficult feat–crafting knits out of Japanese paper. Aiding the Issey Miyake aesthetic were frolicsome tulips, peekaboo openings and a generous number of geometric based patterns that lent the collection its genuine mix of Turkish-inspired style and fashion that is relevant to today’s standards.
