Having an Emotional Support Animal is a great help against anxiety and depression. But if you plan to travel with it, then you will likely hit some speed bumps. Don’t worry; we will help you out as we are going to give you some important insights of how to bring them

Airplane

When you fly with an emotional support animal, make sure you have the prescription letter. It should from a licensed medical professional. The license approves your pet’s use as an ESA. Every airline has its own set of rules to deal with ESA.

Therefore, you should be upfront about it. Let the airline know you are bringing an ESA with you with its breed, and size. This will give the airline a better idea for how to accommodate you.

According to the Air Carrier Access Act, the Airline has to cooperate with you and allow you to travel with the ESA. However, coordinating with the airline properly will be beneficial for both parties as this saves your time and breath.

Train

While the Airlines are more lenient in such situations, unfortunately, trains fall behind. Yes, they are not very welcoming to this concept, and you will have a hard time convincing the company if they don’t allow for ESA.

In most trains, a service and therapy dog is allowed. But the same leniency is not shown up towards ESA, not unless you accept to travel in a kennel, and pay an additional fee for the dog.

With the rise of App-based travel services, you should check their website first and see if they have a dog policy at all this will give you a better sense of what to expect.

In case you are going in your car. You can stick for as long as you want. Make sure you grab a map and plan the entire trip of time. This avoids speed bumps and other such issues.

Bus

Just like train services, there are many examples of bus services that don’t recognize the importance of emotional support animal. This is why you will find that some services are not willing to work with you as long as it concerns your ESA Dog, They do allow service dogs as they believe these dogs serve a greater purpose as compared to an emotional support dog.

So if you are going on a tour, you better check up with the bus service and let them know beforehand. This will help you avoid creating a scene on the spot and keep things from escalating.

Car

There is no new to say, but if it’s your car, then you should ask this question in the first place. Anyhow, if you hired service and wondering whether they allow you to take your ESA or not, then you better get a straight answer by bringing this topic up.

If you are convinced by what we said above and you want to get an ESA yourself, then you should log onto https://www.certapet.com/faq/how-to-get-an-emotional-support-animal/
