The Number 0 buzz cut is for men who are all in, no half-measures, no fuss, and no fear of their skull’s shape. It’s a look that reads blunt honesty, somewhere between military resolve and underground MMA energy.

Right now, it’s circling back into the style bloodstream via Gen Z’s anti-aesthetic lean and the post-Y2K obsession with hypermasculine minimalism (see anything from early Jason Statham).

What is a Number 0 Buzz Cut?

The Number 0 buzz cut sits at the shortest end of the buzz spectrum, achieved with clippers and no guard. There’s no fade or gradient, only full scalp exposure. What makes the no guard buzz work visually is the clean silhouette that highlights bone structure and facial contrast.

Who Can Pull It Off (and Keep It Sharp)

Best suited to those with even skull shapes and strong jawlines, the Number 0 thrives on confidence. It works across hair textures since it removes the texture entirely. Oval and angular face shapes wear it best, while rounder faces benefit from keeping the beard in play to elongate the profile.

Maintenance is binary: either keep it near-daily with a clipper at home, or accept the fade-to-fuzz that kicks in within a week. There is nowhere to hide sloppy regrowth.

Hold, Fade, Return

The Number 0 is one of the few cuts that does not grow out so much as grow away. Within a week, it turns into a soft stubble look, losing its surgical clarity and replacing it with something more relaxed.

After two or three weeks, the identity shifts again toward a traditional buzz cut, less severe but still low-maintenance. Expect to retouch every 4 to 7 days to preserve that clean look.
