Dries Van Noten honed in on an interesting theme for his spring-summer 2017 men’s collection. Inspired by the idea of arts and crafts, Van Noten’s starting reference included the famed country home of writer William Morris–Kelmscott Manor. The Belgian designer sought to find the balance between art and the process of crafting in itself.

Bringing together graphic botanical prints with patchwork, Van Noten also revisited fabric art as well as textile artists of the 1960s and 70s. Traversing the centuries, the results unveiled an intricate tapestry. Bomber jackets, windbreakers and baggy shorts felt contemporary, while also playing to the collection’s romantic views of art. Here oversized trench coats and wide-cut trousers acted as a canvas, complementing boxy tees with patched together textile prints, frayed knit sweaters and camouflage fashions.
