Yohji Yamamoto continued an exploration of lightness with his spring-summer 2019 collection for Y-3. Shown during Paris Fashion Week, the selection began with a minimal approach to style in black and white. The foundation for the season, light and airy clothes were front and center. Adidas’ signature athleticism found itself weaved throughout a range of relaxed silhouettes. Yamamoto’s skillful use of proportion aided in translating the lightness of an open parachute into clothes. Longline tops, oversized parkas, slouchy tanks, tapered pants, and more contributed to Y-3’s uniform for the season. The collection’s clean direction also reflected itself in Yamamoto’s latest footwear designs.
