Following in the footsteps of Hedi Slimane, Anthony Vaccarello’s tenure at Saint Laurent has been relatively safe and fall-winter 2018 is no different. Vaccarello has easily continued Slimane’s reset of the house with a stylish man that appreciates slim lines, the color black, and a little rock ‘n’ roll. However, Slimane is slated to return to menswear with the launch of Céline’s line. This fact paints Vaccarello’s creative direction in a new light. Can you really appreciate a continuation of Slimane’s aesthetic or what feels like an assembly line production? Especially, when Slimane will undoubtedly hold court with his own signature designs in the near future.
