There’s a new sheriff in town when it comes to Roberto Cavalli. After a sensible fall debut, creative director Paul Surridge brings a clean tailored edge to the fashion house. Although Roberto Cavalli may be known for its loud prints, Surridge toned the signature down. In fact, he balanced it with a steady stream of black and white. Shown during Pitti Uomo, the collection captured the spirit of leisure and laid-back beach holidays. Relaxed proportions suited long fluid coats, wide-cut shorts, graphic tanks, and open-weave knits. An almost-sporty aptitude ran throughout the collection but was halted by the effortless finesse of Surridge’s suits.
