Using Michael Jackson as a symbol of inclusiveness, Virgil Abloh takes us to the streets of New York via a custom set to present Louis Vuitton’s fall-winter 2019 collection. The season unfolds with monochromatic numbers in soft shades of grey. Tailoring is layered as Abloh plays with varying proportions for jackets and coats. Billowing pleated trousers fall in line with elegant elongated shapes. Meanwhile, soft leather is effortlessly draped for chic coats and juxtaposed against the harshness of metallic silver. Military elements, glittery details, and graphics like a pair of shoes directly tie the collection to Jackson. Bringing the range full circle, Abloh celebrates a positive world view with graphics that feature flags from different countries.
