HUGO presented its spring-summer 2019 collection in Berlin. Entitled “Mixmasters,” the season takes its inspiration from style aficionados that borrow from various decades. Referencing street style, it’s no surprise to see a nod to fits and graphics that allude to nineties raves. The German brand also revisits its archives, arriving at details such as drawstring finishes or slouchy suit jackets. Straight-leg jeans also make a comeback alongside washed denim jackets. The collection also plays with the notion of mixing materials. Natural fibers and synthetic materials come together. This idea is executed with the layering of linen jackets, silk shirts, and soft-ribbed knits. Most noticeably, several wool jackets feature mesh linings. Meanwhile, the collection receives a graphic edge with references to the Berlin wall and the regular plastering of club posters.
