Balmain Goes Full-On Survival Mode for Fall ’18

The Fashionisto / Published January 20, 2018

Addressing a political age of turmoil, Balmain creative director Olivier Rousteing looked to create a wardrobe for the modern survivor. Decisively flamboyant, Rousteing’s man amplifies strength with a glitz and fashionable chainmail. This armor included sheer tops, PVC pants, and shirts boasting a Balmain seal. No stranger to the military style motif, Rousteing embraced dark hues and grounded colors for a strong tailored lineup. Epaulet finished jackets joined cropped parkas, strap detailed pants, and logo sweatshirts. The collection also stepped up the ante with hero pieces like a fur jacket, graphic tuxedo, or PVC trench.
