Demna Gvasalia revisited tailored house codes for Balenciaga’s spring-summer 2019 collection. The show opened with sleek double-breasted jackets and coats with strong squared shoulders. Meanwhile, details were minimum. Clean lines reinforced impeccable construction. Dark hues reigned with the occasional pop of color, courtesy of blue or red. Casual sentiments took a turn away from prevalent streetwear trends and found an ease in graphic shirts, leather pants, and oversized tops. Monochromatic themes surfaced as well with coordinated pieces and slouchy proportions. Poking fun at track pants, chic trousers with side stripes rounded out the collection.
