yohji yamamoto spring summer 2013 032 Yohji Yamamoto Spring/Summer 2013 | Paris Fashion Week

Yohji’s Battle–Disrupting the natural flow of things, Yohji Yamamoto mixed things up this season taking his loose silhouetted man and throwing him into combat. The results were a bruised but utterly charming figure of a man thrown into disarray with larger shapes and more color. Here, long shirts carried significant slits, pants ballooned with elasticized ankles and jackets gave an impression of flight. From somber black to the occasional bleach stain or reworking of gorgeous scarf-like prints into Yamamoto’s seasonal canvas, the collection carried itself with great humor and style, marrying the label’s signature aesthetic to a combative arena of fun.
