Manpris Epidemic Revived

After leaving my class, which the professor thought lasted longer than it did making for an awkward extended five minutes, I headed to the coffee cart for a nice pick me up.  Let me halt this story for two seconds to express how estatic I am that nine more weeks and I will be a college graduate.  Good riddance!  Continuing on, I was standing in line contemplating rather to get a latte or a hot chocolate despite it being 81 outside.  My decision making was interrupted by the unsightly scene of a guy with his pants rolled up like the left picture.  To make matters worse, he was wearing a pair of neon bright nikes.  Uck.  After a quick moment of disgust, I was on my way to work with a hot chocolate in hand, when I saw in the distance a guy wearing actual manpris.  Uck Uck.  I thought this dismal epidemic was over.  It just is not aesthetically pleasing.  It’s atrocious.  Now this got me thinking, why do I find them so revolting, but find cropped pants acceptable.  Aha!  It’s in the finish.  Staple color, trouser style, good proportions, loose silhouette.  When done right, like Rick Owens’ pair in the top picture, it looks stylish and sophisticated.  Especially, when paired with a nice pair of boots.  So, what is the point of this random blather?  I challenge you to buy a pair of cropped trousers and incorporate it into your fall/winter looks.  If you have extra trousers laying around and courageous and an air of style to boot, take a pair of scissors to them.  Good luck fashionistos!

  1. I know how you feel. It all comes down to length and shoes; an inch to short can make a man look like he stole a girls capris and with the wrong shoes the image can conjure up vacation in Boca with a fanny pack and straw hat. Usually if I do cropped pants they must be in dark colors and I measure the lenths religiously so that I don’t look like a soccer mom on the bottom half of my outfit.
