Giorgio Armani

The Armani empire has made Giorgio Armani the most successful designer to come out of Italy. Founded in 1975, the Armani label exploded on to the scene with its prominent feature in the 1980’s movie, American Gigolo, starring Richard Gere. He is noted for his impeccably tailored menswear and is known as a master of understated opulent glamour on the red carpet. The Armani brand expansion includes Privé, Collezioni, Jeans, and the latest, Armani Exchange. In 2000, a new line of cosmetics and home furnishings were added to the list. Since 1990, a chain of Armani Cafes have been developed and the first Armani restaurant opened in New York in February 2009. The first of many hotels and resorts opened in January 2010 in Dubai, continuing the ever growing empire of the Armani brand.
